WONNIJIA's mission is to EMPOWER youth to assist their families and communities, to INSPIRE them to be socially aware and to ENCOURAGE them to consider their role in our world as global citizens
Our Story
The story began with two strangers one American looking to purchase a traditional outfit and one Nigerian who sells traditional outfits. At the time the women didn't know that the simple exchange between buyer and seller would blossom into a unique friendship. The women discovered that something they had in common was a heart for giving. One year, during the holiday season, they decided to give beautiful clothes as gifts to a family in need. The first effort was successful and the two were able to bless the children in a family of six. In their second season they were able to give holiday outfits to twins boys who had lost their mother earlier that year.
The joy on the faces of the boys encouraged the women to want to do more. The women wanted to share the experience of learning about each other and their cultures, as well as the joy of giving to others with young people, especially young people from their respective countries. With this, WONNIJIA was born. Putting their strengths and talents together reinforced the idea that You can win when you can find Oneness.
